What benefits are available for me?

All benefit information for Academic and University Staff is available through Brite Guide.

When do my benefits go into effect?

New Hire employee benefits will begin on your first day of employment.

Eligibility Change benefits will begin on your first day of the job change.

For current employees who have a qualifying life event, benefits will be effective on the date of the approved qualifying event.

 

I have a J1 Visa and am benefits eligible, what plan is for me?

What medical plan meets J1 Visa eligbility? 

Mines offers one medical plan called, Anthem BlueCross and BlueShield POS Adv, for J1 Visa holders who are also benefits eligible.  Please refer to Brite Guide for more information about this plan.

When can I fill out my benefits selections?

New Hire employees can enroll within 31 days from their date of hire.  

Promotion/Job Changes can enroll within 31 days from their date of hire.  

Current employees, who have a qualifying life event, must open event in Workday to enroll within 31 days from the date of the qualifying event.

All employees will have the option to enroll or make changes annually during open enrollment for the next calendar year.

When will I get an insurance card?

You can expect to receive your physical insurance card in the mail within 7-14 business days of enrollment. Your coverage is effective from your date of hire. Upon receiving your physical ID card, you can access your Anthem documents conveniently through Anthem’s website or the Sydney Mobile App available for download on Google Play or the Apple store.

If you enroll in medical, dental, and/or vision,  you will get one insurance card for three services.

How do I login to Brite Guide to view plan information?

Brite Guide houses ALL plan information, including medical, dental, vision, life & disability, and additional benefits.

Where do I make my benefits selections?

All benefits elections are made electronically in Workday.  For more information on how to complete your enrollment, please navigate to the Enroll in Benefits page and choose the situation that applies to you.

Who can I see for my primary care provider?

At time of enrollment, a Primary Care Provider (PCP) will be auto-assigned.  However, you are NOT locked into using this provider.  Please perform a provider search in your Sydney mobile app or login to Anthem online to search for a new provider.  Once you have chosen your provider, you will be prompted to assign them as your new PCP care team.

A new insurance card will not be issued upon reassingment of a PCP.  Please remember the most important items on your insurance card are your Member ID and Policy Number for billing, which remain the same for each calendar year.

Who can I talk to about my Medicare options?

Anthem’s Move to Medicare program is a completely free service available to employees and their families to help you understand your Medicare options and navigate the process.

How can I set up voluntary retirement and how do I know that I am elgible?

All voluntary retirement options, 401k, 403b, and 457 are offered to all Mines employees regardless of benefits eligibility status.

How do I enroll in childcare?

To enroll your child in daycare, complete these steps:

1. To enroll your child, call the Bright Horizons’ Enrollment Team at 1(877)827-0394. A representative can help you to sign up and submit the $150 registration fee.

2. To view rate information, visit Mines Early Childhood Center for a quick rate table or visit the FAQ page on Bright Horizon’s Early Childhood Center for more extensive rate information.
